I would agree with above and guess that your wife completed the first bonus mission and was awarded an extra straight track piece, I believe that the same options to win extra track pieces will also be available at the completion of the act 2 quest tasks so if you work extra hard if you have the time you can probably win extra track and be able to have the same amount of track.
