thank god, no.
initially, the elf spawn was generous and I was home without much to do, so i got lots of elves out of it. at some point when i decided i wanted to catch barry, i started setting timers for the cannon before i lost interest. Now i still log in frequently enough throughout the day to get max elves. Having to play another time waster (FG) helps.
also, just FYI, you get 3 elves every 30 min, but I believe the spawn timer becomes 3 every 15 min if you check into your town regularly. Someone should test that
