Forced update but not playing

So... since I haven't been playing since the forced update also...

Am I correct in my observations that so far no one who has updated, but not started the Heights expansion has lost any donuts? In other words, at least it seems safe to update and continue to play "normally"?

I would really like to get the Banana Dictatorship before it expires, especially if a fix for the donut issue rolls our donuts back to before the Heights update...
