Forced update but not playing

I was forced to update. I had been waiting, hoping for the patch. However, have not launched the game, to play, as I am nervous about this issue. Seems we can't fiigure out a root cause. I hope EA can so they can patch it soon and that everyone gets their donuts back easily.
