Having enough space on a device does not equal having the system requirements (processor and ram) required to run the game properly. It does not matter if a device is brand new. I can walk out of Wal Mart with a "brand new" low end Android phone that would struggle to run the game. If somebody asks for your specs that aren't necessarily fanboys but possibly trying to help figure out if you meet the requirements.
Yes, this game seems to have some issues. I can't compare since I recently started playing again. There are some fixes or workarounds out there if you search the forum. Or you can post more details if you notice a particular time it occurs and maybe somebody with more experience with lockups in the game can offer some suggestions.
