Dude. Time and time again people whinge about needing donuts to finish the event, and they're never right. It's a game. You're supposed to have to actually put a bit of time in, and I'm guessing you didn't put in as much time as youre saying, because I played less than that and finished with a few days spare.
I don't speed up tasks and had two premium characters that helped with the tasks, which provide such a little bonus it's barely noticeable.
