Hell Ants!
Good observations....it does seem like way more people were on board with the tile tapping. I have yet to come across one random town with a hail ants sign.

I put xmas lights on all my brown houses because I'm not defending them. I want the income from some of my other houses, but I pretty much never collect from brown houses anyway.
I've seen the lights and hail ants signs in several random towns. I always attack them. I know the suggestion started on reddit, so I figure there are a lot of people going with it.
