I love the idea of setting our own landing zone. One benefit is that, when I've added a section or feature to my town that I'd like to show all my friends, I can just make that the landing zone.
My thought for the future method would be for EA to add four more items to the "decorations" list ... "Pinpoint" versions of a road tile, a concrete tile, a water tile, and a grass tile. Oh, and a Squidport tile. Obviously, we could only use one at any given moment. But we could treat them as we do the standard versions (be able to put objects on a concrete one, for instance.)
The tree right now does the job, and is perfect for this event, but in the long term, an "object" would need to be worked around. If I want to change my landing zone for a day, with a tile, it's a ten-second switch.
The pinpoint version would have all the same properties with one additional "super power" ... To move the screen to where i want it.
