Yes - they are thinking long term. Would you want to see a holiday tree when you log in over the summer? During Halloween? About about Whacking Day?
They want something simple like a land tile. I'd settle for a 1x1 decoration that is tiny, so you can hide it behind a building (unless you want it visible).
Not sure what point you're trying to make here. I already said it might not look the way people want it to, and you're pointing out that... it might not look the way people want it to, because holidays.
