Hunter Grant Connor character worthwhile?

I don't really know anyone who hunts who just chucks the animal. That whole concept seems antiquated. All the hunters that I know use the animal,and every licensed hunter (and as far as I know there aren't many unlicensed ones) has a strict limit on what he can take. The old buffalo hunts where they rode out on the plains shooting animals like fish in a barrel doesn't really happen anymore. Sure, you have a few jerk poachers in places like Africa who do that crap but most legit hunters are as appalled by that as everyone else.
