KL is about as separate as your neighbors. You have to wait for the servers to load, and usually not crash.
KL is multiple visits daily, you can change things around just to change them. There are, in the beginning, quests that have to be completed. There is land to purchase. There are daily bonut quests, not every day, but occasionally. Quests that require you to interact with buildings. And if you save up tickets, you can trade them in for cash. I know most players don't need the cash, but it is there for the taking.
Where as with your neighbors when you visit them, you can only barely interact with them. And only once a day. There are no quests to run in their towns. There is no land to purchase. Your playable characters can not react with any of the buildings there. And there is no tangible gain to you once you reach the end of the friend prizes. That is except when we are in a event.
I think this would be a great event. And with the way EA changed the way neighbor visits work so you can step to KL's without having to go to Springfields first, it starts to make more and more sense.
