You don't have to hack the game to get a lot of donuts.
That's not the point. it's a total cash grab to put these characters available now a day after the mystery gift.
They knew there was going to be a spike in donut sales for the mystery gift and a day after they put these characters in hoping to generate even more income.
Or you're looking too much into it and they had to get some sort of Apple or Google approval to get the new donut packs up and that caused a delay. These weren't just a game update that they can get in at any time. They would have had to go through Apple and Google since they are given away with real money purchases. But all of us could be wrong and it could be something else. I just don't jump to "evil EA" conclusions so fast.
