I did steal characters from the event for the overstock (built up the amount to 5 under the cap before pulling them in for the last bunch), so lost a few hours of event currency on some of them.
The restock/overfill is always the more tedious part and seems to take longer than the actual track collecting. On a good week I collect almost about 13,000 blueprints straight away. The whole thing usually takes about 12-14 hours if there is no event.
