I think it would be cool to release past limited-time items, but perhaps with some tiny modification that identifies it as not-the-original.
For the Duff Racer II, it could have had one of the "Duff" decals in black-with-white lettering instead of white-with-black lettering.
If they rerelease the Barney Blimp, the second generation one could have a "II" on one of the tail rotor thingies.
For the Mapple Store II, the rooftop air conditioner could have the number "II" on it.
So late-comer players (like me) could have the aesthetically-identical items in their town for design purposes, but the veteran players could still have the "original" one. For those who care, they'd still retain that special feeling of being ... well ... special. :)
