If you are worried about an update, you can still put your people on long tasks if you want and are smart about it. Just make sure that you don't place any lower level, permanent character, that comes without a building, in the Simpson House. Also, put Lisa and Homer on either joint tasks or tasks inside a building not the Simpson's House. All busy character can be stored to free them up.
I put my characters on 24 hour tasks last night about 6 pm making sure to use Mayan Homer's 24 task and Sacagawea Lisa's 24 hour tasks. Homer is in the church and Lisa is at a brown house. Other options for 24 hour tasks for Lisa/Homer would be to put them into Krusty Land. Both tasks are inside buildings/rides and both buildings/rides can be stored.
