You might be right here. Every time I do it, the egg is blue when I enter my town, and then I go to KL and turn it pink.
Worked again when the icon turned from blue to pink. I think that's the key. I don't know if restarting the game until the icon turns blue is an option, but if it starts off pink in going to try it.
Worked again. I am 3/4 but am making sure it is blue when I first start now and am 2/2.
