The pirates bridge (final prize for excavation) can go over open ocean! Too cool- Did the place and remove pier tile underneath but sure it just straddle as well. Something that belongs over water ...

You need to have it spaced over three consecutive tiles, so that the feet of the bridge aren't touching the middle tile. Then you can remove the middle tile and there you have it! Isn't that the way all bridges are made? :p
