You're right. It could be an amazing event. This event ends Monday. Third year anniversary of the game is Tuesday. Would be a blast to have a full blown superhero event. :)

My own total made up speculation:
Next week: Superheros Event (plus a few new friend prizes)
Early March: Level 50 Huge level (monorail?)
Saint Pat's = a sale/rerelease of old prizes, maybe 1 new item. They've done -- in my opinion -- a lot already for such a small holiday.
Late march/first half of April: Easter Event. (Better be good.)
Summer: Chili Cook off.
