While "Mapple" is a parody to Apple, it doesn't make sense that Android users wouldn't have access to it for this reason. If this were true, the myPad task of Homer's would have to be changed, along with the myPad questline. I doubt Google would have thrown a tantrum and demand EA drop the Mapple store, and if they had I'm sure that hissy fit would have included changing myPad to anPad or something Androidesque.. I don't really see EA losing potential players due to the Mapple store, although some hardcore Apple-haters out there may refuse to buy the thing, big whoop.
It's weird and doesn't make much sense, but the Android version is still new so a lot of things about it are going to be weird and not make much sense (no origin access, for example) until EA figures out what they are doing with that version of the game.
