Release older buildings for newer players!
Well, many of the items were limited time or tied to episodes, so it wouldn't make sense to release them again. They have released some old items here and there so you never know though.

I honestly can't tell how long someone has played just by seeing that they have lots of old stuff. I can tell they were here for a previous Halloween, but other than that, all I know from looking at existing SFs that do NOT have unfamiliar halloween objects is that they've been here longer than me.
The only accurate way i have of knowing how long someone has been around is shown in their join-date. :)
