Revoked Update....?
Try a hard close on the app. If that doesn't work, uninstall and reinstall. That usually fixes this problem. Sorry if you've already tried these things, I have no other ideas.

I've learnt the hard way to never buy the Homer Buddha and the Mystery Boxes. I always get cr**ap.
It'd be great if they rewarded actual nicer stuff like butterfly tent, flower planter or even the tree swing. I'd possibility purchase some if the rewards more actually rewarding.
Unfortunately EA have me around their little finger with this game :? lol
