Family Guy: The Quest For Stuff

While EA's too busy coming up with more stupid "deals" that turn poor Gil into a supervillain to actually create something NEW, there's a Comic-Con event going on in the Family Guy game that's getting ready to make the Stan Lee character available on Friday.

i am expecting a boatload's price for him seeing how much crap it costs in that game

Most of the celebrities have been free so far. You just have to be patient and to get the items to unlock them. Stan Lee will most definitely be free as well.

I was thinking about buying a few premium items

but I guess I might as well hold off in case they come up in a promotion

It's no different from things going in a sale. Sure, it's frustrating when you've bought an item full price, but it's not unusual.
