Well, it just started and I have to wait another 13 hours to see how I do.

The counter does not reset. Just keeps adding. You get all the prizes at 12,500 snakes I believe. and Then for every 1,000 after that, you get a whack box (13,500/14,500/etc..) that may contain a lot of donuts.
