Squidport, is it too much to ask?

Hmmmm... I think I'll keep my roads, not fond of the look of the town without them.

Just wish there was some way to generate a little traffic there without having to resort to something that will really compromise the aesthetic of the town.

Do Performers draw characters to the boardwalk or are they just deco that has no effect on the game?

They are just deco that has no effect on drawing people to the boardwalk. They basically look nice :D

They are just for decoration. That's why I only bought 2. They don't increase your multiplier or give you any money from jobs.

If you make a road right up to the port and put a place with many tasks (e.g. the Kwik-E-Mart) near the SP entrance you should get more foot traffic there. My church faced the SP for a while and when church or Sunday school let out, many of my people would then flock to SP and hang out there until I gave them another task. But yeah, some visible tasks on SP would be nice.

my characters walk around squidport all the time while on tasks, lovejoy walks the dog there, the hounds drag burns there etc

Last Crusade is my fav, Temple of Doom was bad and to me there were only 3 :D

I meant the fourth one. You know where Harrison Ford looks old. His girlfriend from the first movie is older and his son is there. I liked the third one, the Last Crusade! 8)
