Purely a guess as I'm not there yet, but on the main tap ball screen, the flag for me currently says 'single player'
Does yours possibly also say 'trash a neighbour' (or something like that ;) )
Now it only says "challenge random player" (i supose the other option disappeared for the mission) and it sends me to a random springfield. And for Now Im unable to challenge a friend from my list, even those with fields.
The big problem is that as it is i cant progress the mission...
They may have to finish another task or game or whatever. I didn't get the "fans" in my town until I finished a number of steps. Short steps, but maybe the neighbor just isn't quite there?
Did you try Other Springfield?
I haven't talked tten to the visiting stage yet (not sure what triggers it ... ). So maybe there's a certain point they haven't reached yet?
