Not sure I agree with this, if anything the business model of EA has changed to give us MORE opportunities for donuts. To give us several new avenues to get donuts, and deliberately close another doesn't make sense to me.
As previously noted, I suspect that the next update is something unusual, and perhaps some technical issues are holding back the release date.
