I'll have to take your word for it that there is a new playable event. I keep crashing after just a few seconds.

Mine too! :-(

I reinstalled (because why not), and the problem was still there. Then closed the app, restarted and there was a new new update which seems to have fixed it. I am in now.

You don't mention which building they're in, but storing the building will release the characters. Then you can bring the building out of storage. I don't know whether, at that point, the task will show as incomplete. Sorry. But at least your characters are unstuck.

I did the exact same thing earlier and it worked for me too, seems to be the fox for anyone else with this problem

I tried restarting my device and still having the same problem

You need to store the building in inventory then replace building that should clear the problem it did with mine ??
