If it was a new level, you would have gotten the level up screen even if all your characters were busy.

Too many people already think that bell collecting will go longer than it will. I'm going to be the one mopping up tears if those rumors don't get under control.
The evidence is there for all to see on their own devices, but if that isn't enough maybe visual evidence of both timers being in synch is needed...
