Good to see so,e feedback I'm surprised that at the time of this writing 6 people are opposed to the idea entirely. I doubt it will get implemented but just a suggestion.
I think that part of the reason why you didn't get a bigger response is because of all the glitches we've had to deal with during the life of this game. Personally, I've been playing for almost a year (started the week after Christmas last year), and I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've been kicked out of my neighborhood screen. There have been times when days, even weeks have gone by without being able to visit my neighbors. (Thankfully, lately, I haven't had this problem). What you're proposing would be unfair to those who can't visit due to no fault of their own. (Check the threads that discuss this type of glitch. You'll find that MANY players are affected by it.)
The only time when this might've come in handy was during the Halloween event. Not so much as a way to keep track of how long between visits, but just a way to let us know that we had visitors, at all. The only way to tell that a neighbor had visited, was if they dropped an egg. That made no sense to me! (Personally, I dropped up to 5 eggs per neighbor, if they had room.)
Plus, like LinkWick stated, many players just aren't as active between events. I used to be more of a stickler about neighborly visits. But after playing for close to a year, I've gotten to know some of my neighbors' playing habits. There are those who don't play as often between events, but during events they're awesome and I know I can count on them. I'm not about to fault them on the off-season. (Like I said, this is something that came with time. I actually feel guilty about the ones that I dropped during my early days!! I wish I could get them back. )
I used to keep a spreadsheet, as well. But after all the times I've been kicked out of my neighborhood screen, and because of all the neighbors I've lost due to no fault of my own, I stopped keeping one. Now, if 3-4 weeks go by, or there's no activity at all during events, that's when I tend to cut ties. Otherwise, I just go with the flow and hope I'm reading the situation correctly. :)
