Not necessarily - events usually launch between 9-10 am Pacific Time, which is not for another 1 1/2 hours yet. Personally I think any update today would be a small one, maybe a tie-in to the Christmas episode as a lead-in for the event next week. We usually don't start getting hints until just a few minutes before launch.
Don't most episode tie-ins pop up on Thursdays? Big events have always been Tuesdays from my experience.
