We need an IDEAS AND SUGGESTIONS section separate from Game Discussion

Once upon a time, the forum was one section. But it grew and needed more sections.

Well it's obviously bloated enough to need another new section: IDEAS AND SUGGESTIONS!

YES! a separate section where all the creative minds can discuss the glorious ideas they've conjured up, and would surely implement, if only they actually had any role in building this game.

Please!! Please, please, please, forum webmaster, please implement such a new subsection. Not only do the creative people need a quiet, supportive environment do share thoughts, but the people who just want to play the actual game which exists, would love to be able to separate the useful tips from the useless chatter.

Who wouldn't love this? Only those who insist on shoving their self-aggrandized ideas into the faces of others, that's who! And that's not me! I'd be first to move any creative suggestions ive made there! Including THIS THREAD!!!

Sorry this is in the wrong section :D only joking. I think its an excellent idea.

    Omg it totally is!!

Someone please provide the correct section for us!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :P
  • I don't think the forum needs anymore sub-forums. The "Springfield Showcase" sub-forum is lucky to have 10 post a day, same with the "Bugs & Issues" and "FAQs and Guides" sub-forums. But, I was against splitting up the forum the first time (before I got promoted) so I may be a little bias. Also, it just sounds like more work for me
  • Doesn't really seem like it would be necessary to me. A large bulk of the threads in Game Discussion are ideas and suggestions, you'd basically just be slowing down one sub-forum to create another for no reason.

Also that No option is really misleading. You can't vote that it's unnecessary without thinking no suggestions should ever be made by people not working for EA? That's just ridiculous, dude.

No. It would just become another Krustyland of the forums.

I don't mind all game-related threads being in the same place.

You keep mentioning threads dropping off the front page, have you tried changing how many threads/posts per page yet?

    Edit: pic so it happened:

    1. Why do you care so much?
    2. Why do you always put other people down?
    3. I can't grasp why people get so emotionally charged over statements made on a game forum. What am I missing?
    4. I'm sorry your life is so bad (as it would appear) and hope your anger subsides and you find happiness in your life.

    1. I care just enough to talk about it. That's not "so much" that its too much. People like me don't care about reading other people's daydreams! I want to read about tips to achieve game goals, not imaginary ideas that will never exist. Is that such a surprise?

    2. I do not ALWAYS put people down. I only put down those who have offended me with their useless contributions that clutter the forum. Most of my threads are helpful, creative, or supportive. It's sad you only notice the unhappy posts. I wish i wasnt compelled to make so many, which is why i asked for a separate section i would never have to visit.

    3. People here seem to talk about anything that comes to mind. It creates too many threads with no useful information for the average player. That's great, but it would be better organized if the useful threads were separate from the useless banter.

    4. Thank you. My life IS bad. You have no idea, do you? No idea that I'm in a private rehab under suicide watch because of what happened to my family last year. Occasionally, my mood swings irrationally. It's OK, i don't expect anyone to understand. We're just here to discuss a game.

What i DO expect is a little more forum etiquette. For a group seemingly so concerned with neighbor etiquette, heaven forbid they offend a stranger by unfriending then too soon; there's very little regard for offending the people chatting in here.

So, since those people have no problem offending me, i feel compelled to offend then back. IT'S NOT SOMETHING I WANT TO DO. which is why I'm constantly asking for help to organize their useless contributions, so they can still do what they want, without offending people like myself.

I reply to people in kind. You need help and ask nicely, i respond nicely and offer help. But you come in to whine, I'll kick it back at you. You come in to bore me with your imaginary nonsense, I'll let you know how bored i am with YOU. Theres a place for exercising your imagination: in the game. Build it, take a pic, and post it in the Showcase. But i don't care about what your imaginary daydreams if they don't exist IN GAME.

THANKS for asking; on better days i do still hope to find happiness in life.

    happy tapping!

It's not that 'these people' (us?) have no problem offending you, it's that nobody intends to offend you. We come here to, yes, share tips and tricks, but also to discuss the game. If that is to talk about things that exist 'IN GAME,' or express hopes or speculations or offer creative ideas (that we don't even know if EA will read, but do so anyway because we love this game). I don't believe we should be limited to exercising our imaginations in the game, I only have 100 Neighborinos. Here, we can ALL share in each other's imagination. It all comes down to discussing the game.

I can't think of a more appropriate place to do that than in...

    Wait for it...

    Game Discussion!

It seems that what you want is a Tips and Tricks subforum. Most of which would probably be posted here, anyway. Again, if you're worried about threads dropping off the front page, just set your Items Per Page higher in your profile settings. A thread is what, 1/8"? 1/4"? Just scroll past the ones you see are speculation or ideas not IN GAME. I see plenty of people commenting on how many pages a thread is, when it's nowhere near that for me. I have my Items Per Page set to 50. I think default is 20?

One thing that I do think would be helpful for everyone, would be an accurate description of a thread's contents in the title. Like: "Do you think Maggie will be voiced?", rather than, "Do you think", and then "Maggie will be voiced" in the body of the thread. Vague titles can waste some time, but I'm not one to mind. I love this forum. And I love the sense of community and sense of humor this place has.

I hope this helps, or at least doesn't make you angrier. But, either way, in the immortal words of David Bowie, LET'S DANCE!
