I also suggest total reconstruction of your town, or even creating a Springfield version replica of some sort of city/landscape/movie. I've seen people do walking dead (although not full town-- you could definitely create your entire town to replicate the map of walking dead), cities under water, cities held under a cult prison camp surrounded by water with little access and rows of brown houses as "authority fortesses" or refugee camps.... There are endless possibilities.
