Out of curiosity, where on the west coast is a mountain range in the north? Because I've looked at maps trying to find somewhere in the US that has a mountain range placed like that. They look to always be either west or east of a given location.
I lived in Washington state as a kid. I remember seeing mountains from my back yard. Mountains north, ocean west.
