Could you possibly not be emptying your bank of nightmares and then losing some? Your town can only hold 20 and the bank 40. So if both are full, you have to tap the 20, and then wait while 20 more are released from the bank. Then tap those and wait again. And you don't want to tap on the kids at the campfire until you have room in your town+bank to hold what they will generate. Same issue can happen with tapping on the gate to nowhere.

Of course having more kids helps.

I'm 22 in my A-town, which got hit by the initial glitch with Bart. I'm in there every hour or so for 12-14 hrs. So that seems comparable to your level.

I'm 28 in my RTTF town. 15 kids, two of which are premium. But I'm in that town constantly because of the competition.

25 in my B-town which is freemium but has 16 kids, three of which are premium. However, I'm trying for the 5 donuts so using some of my kids on that.
