I ACCIDENTLY LOST DONUTS

After every update it is advisable to check that your donut confirmation function is turned on. Quite a few people have reported that it has switched itself off after an update goes live. So as much as it does suck, not a whole lot you can do about that. As far as candy Kevin goes, you could try contacting EA about it, I'm not sure what the outcome will be, they might give you back candy Kevin but I don't think they will give you the donuts back seeing as you did make that purchase.

    for some reason this Christmas update turned off my confirm spend on my android tablet. Before this it had never switched it off (that was an apple only feature)

    lost 4 donuts so wasn't too bad

    That's exactly what I was going to say.
    I accidentally spent some donuts cause the
    Confirmation was off after the update! Grrrrr

    after reinstall. Or store update its always off
