Can only throw punches and kicks to the body

I was midway through a match when suddenly i could only throw punches and kicks to the body. I took the guy down and got him in a full mount, but was unable to throw punches from the mount. From there, i restarted my console and checked for updates. Everything is up to date and when i launched the game, it gets stuck on the opening page, after the EA intro that reads "press options button" (ps4). My controller works in the ps4 menus and other games, but the problem still persists in UFC2. I have spent quite a bit of time and money on this game and would like to resolve this issue quickly. Any help is greatly appteciated!
