Do you need playstation plus to play online?

Why do you need playstation plus to play ufc 4 and fifa 21  seasons online?

Why did it change cause this afternoon I played online and it worked without playstation plus

I'm not sure how you were able to play online previously without it. PS+ is required as stated here.

    I played ufc 4 and fifa 21 online 

    On a daily basis but today it told me that I need playstation plus 

    Why?
