The team is still investigating this, thank you for your patience. It appears most of you experiencing this are from New Zealand and Australia. Can you all let us know what ISP's you are using and if you're up for it, changing DNS on your console helps get around this error? Our goal is to have the team find the root cause of this, but if there is a way to help get around this in the meantime through technical troubleshooting and you want to try to find a workaround fix in the meantime, let me know if this helps. Much appreciated.
I've seen black screens during loads for other titles and switching up the DNS on the console helped get around that. We have more information on changing DNS from our Help article here: https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/connection-troubleshooting-basic/

I've heard port forwarding. Ive heard change ya dns(Always to the same DNS i am already using to get Apex Legends working... oh and low and behold you mentioned the vlack screen from ApexTHE VERY REASON I AM ALREADY USING THAT MANUAL DNS. Ive heard re install. Ive heard clear cache and delete temporary data(just from console) ive heard re:install.
All of which i did and nothing fixed it. I went from 1300 after my placement fights. Went 3-1 and the 5th fight was when the screen issues happened for me. Had it happen during the trial my only online match i tried to play also.
Got a few videos of it happening but its the same as everyone else here. The purple loading screen. Can only see the 4 shadow sillouttes on the floor that sort of transparently shine through.
Its really frustrating because i already applied for my refund because you seem clueless here and tefuse to make a public statement addressing it. We can all see how many its effecting in the comments on FB.
You need to address this there before more people like me issue a refund request.
I am going to just get it from the 20 bucks bin in march like i did after the mess of a release UFC3.
Like how do you do worse? And dont get me started on the fact career fighters cant be used online regarsing skillsets and moves ect.
