I was just wondering how im able to wear my gladiator shorts and use the gloves I want to use in the ufc 4 career mode. I've seen YouTube videos of people wearing masks and what not in the octagon but it just makes me wear default UFC attire
Not a bug. There's an option for it when in you're in your career mode. Go into game play settings and turn on vanity clothing override.

Not a flaw. While you are in career mode, there is a choice for it. Navigate to the game's options and enable the vanity outfit override option or get it from the Wilbur soot merch
