Will anyone EVER solve this problem? I mean, EVER? In the history of mankind, will there ever be a solution for this problem that has clearly been plaguing the community for YEARS?

May I suggest something else then, I am not sure this will work, but if you want you can try.
I had an issue where my avatar was not displayed on the preview, here is what I did to fix that with Opera.
(Knowing it's not the same issue you're having.)
By the way, Unity Web Player is not supported on Chrome. Newer browser versions might also have compatibility issues.
You can save your game face avatar using Opera web browser. (More information available here.)
Sign out and go to https://www.easports.com/#
Select Service and Game Face in the menu on the top.
Then Game Face should load, click start with your game face, at this stage you should be redirected to the login screen.
Sign in and at the top of the screen select your persona if required.
You should see a screen with 'Player Hub is no longer available.'
Click service and game face again.
Click again 'Start with your Game Face' from there.
