Its likely that both you and your boyfriend have made a miscalculation on the Apex pack count, as the granting of shards is guranteed and automatic on the opening of the 500th pack.
If indeed your boyfriend has purchased over 500 appropiate packs, then proof woild be needed to escalate this as a bug. In you reply please dont include any personal info in the proof.
There's no manual way to check the count atm.
