Att DICE - Portal is a huge problem

Just to start off, I first got introduce to Battlefield in 2005, Battlefield 2 specifically (the good old days of PC gaming) so I am a BF vet. I will get straight to the point.

Not having a community server browser for AAA title is mindboggling and I never see the point of refraining from giving us one.

What we got instead is "portal", fine but what is the point of portal if the server that we are trying to put out is not visible in the browser? And from my understanding there needs be a large X amount of players before a match begins if no bots are added to the portal server.

We were promised a portal that can be useable, you did not walk this talk. You went back on your word, reverted to the way it is currently setup in 2042.

How is the majority  supposed to have a community stay in place when they have all flocked to "matchmaking" and a party can only sustain 4 players. Do you really think that we only have 4 friends at a time?

I see no intentions of addressing the portal for the communities that helped over a decade building BF.

Bf4/BF3/BF1 even BF2 which is officially dead but unofficially not dead, have sustained longevity for a reason.

I would like DICE community manager to address this...

  • One thing that did change for the better over the last few days is that in portal a match can now start with just one player in it...even when there are no bots. Before, it would take 32 players for a match to start in conquest for example. Now you just need 1 player so that's a huge improvement. In the North America region, I see lots of full conquest matches (mostly hardcore) in portal now after that change. So that's at least something.

They still need to make all sorts of other changes if they really want to make portal more viable though. For example, the filters suck right now so it's not easy enough to find regular vanilla rules matches. Speaking of which, the "official rules" filter became useless over the last few days because dice screwed something up and now when you create any default verified experience in portal, it doesn't add the "official rules" tag to your server, so that filter does nothing now and people will have trouble finding your vanilla rules server. Even the experiences that are created by the "battlefieldofficial" account don't have the "official rules" tag anymore. So that really needs to get fixed. They should even go a step further and add a filter that filters for those "battlefieldofficial" experiences in the browser specifically.

Portal also needs an option for team balancing so one team doesn't have twice as many players. I believe 2042 portal had the option to turn on a team balancer like that. I'm not sure why they don't have it in bf6.

They also need the option to switch teams in portal so people can set up matches easier if they need to balance the server better for skill...or at the very least the admin should be able to switch people between teams. Right now, if you need to be able to get on the other team, you have to leave the server and come back and hope you end up on the other team, or join through a friend who is already on the other team. It shouldn't be this difficult.

I also think there should be some quick match option on the main screen that can put people directly into the "battlefieldofficial" portal servers if they want to easily join that kind of experience and play in a persistent server. That would help a great deal in populating these servers because right now people have to go into the browser and manually look for the right matches and with the filters being crappy...it isn't super easy now.
