BF6 Spatial Audio Bug

Spatial Audio on Windows 11 in my experience with the EA Shop Phantom Edition doesn't work properly or as intended.

If I select Spatial Audio the game says something about being incompatible/unsupported and reverting to 3D Headphones.

I've got Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, when I enable them in Windows Audio settings the exact same thing happens in game so it's not one or the other.

Then to make matters worse, when I close and relaunch the game to test the audio further, I go to check the audio settings and it says 3D Headphones not supported or something and reverts to Stereo in game.

In order to fix this I had to switch Spatial Audio in Windows Audio control panel to Windows Sonic and then back to Atmos/DTS:X and it enabled 3D Headphones again.

With War Tapes selected I can hear ok with my headset and dac/amp but something is definitely bugged with this game and how it handles Spatial Audio.

On a lesser note, the Phantom Edition AR reverts back to it's stock form every time you start a new match, no matter what you do.

I only get stereo output , no positional or surround sound effect.
It seems like Battlefield 6 is not properly initializing surround output.

  • For me i have dts headset, i use 3d Headphones ingame because Spatial Audio saying not supported and use stereo. But 3D Headphones look to work fine , the spatialisation look fine.

DTS-x is the only one that doesn’t work for me, comes up as stereo.

Dolby and windows sonic both come up as 3D.

i have Nova pro wireless headset and bf6 interprets the sonar app correctly as 7.1 surround, but the quality is awful & tinny (not a bf6 issue, thats sonar).

still comparing windows sonic and Dolby to figure out which I prefer

  • The game doesn't support spatial audio (3d audio) when it comes to external audio interfaces, it's really forking annoying.

the spatial audio overall is very very inaccurate and inconsistent in BF6.  They need to fix it

  • So I managed to resolve my issue.

Firstly you cannot use 24 bit 96000 Hz I have to use 24 bit 48000 Hz for the output format.

Secondly you have to go to your audio device in Settings and then set "Audio Enhancements" to "Device Default Effects", if that if set to "Off", Spatial 3D will not work in BF6 and revert to 3D Headphones.

I'm not sure why any of this is the case but I've never had to be this precise to get Atmos and DTS:X working in a game before. It's like picking a lock after 100 hours of multiplayer to finally unlock the ability to hear things properly.
