My son has had the same issue on the Series S. We have an X but the HDMI no longer works. But I can use my account and the game loads so it tells me it's probably not a system problem and an account issue. I have not been able to try his account on something else yet.
I have chatted with advisors twice now and all I get is, "The game team is aware of this issue affecting many users and working on a fix.". I would like an answer too.

I have the game 3 days now, works perfect on my Xbox X and my son on his Xbox S has the same issue...
He can't connect to the servers, first there is a queue and than the error code.EA said to delete the mac adres, but it still don't works and now I'm waiting for answers for 3 days now.
