Engineer Specialist 3 Assignment not possible

The final assignment for the engineer (Repair vehicles for 6,000 health in a match). I  am only able to get maybe 1500 in a match with just repairing the whole conquest game. I believe this is bugged and not counting health repaired but points or percentage of health?
The only way I've seen people finish this assignment is to go into portal and create an instance of constantly repairing vehicles for 30 minutes straight. I would prefer to earn this fairly.
