I'm having the same exact issue and I thought it was just me or my headset. I will literally have people run up on me or behind me and hear no footsteps. I've tried adjusting all the headset settings in game and nothing. I do find it odd that I hear no footsteps before I'm killed, but when they kill me I hear their footsteps. The same thing goes with tanks. I'll have a tank roll up on me and not hear it, but once he kills me, I can hear the engine etc. using a HyperX Cloud 2 wireless on PC
It would be nice when footsteps actually do work to have a slightly different sound than friendly footsteps. Many times I'll hear friendly footsteps behind me. When I turn around I find out it's a friendly and get shot in the back by an enemy.
