Gauntlet Squad Wipe bug

In BF6 Gauntlet mode, there is a squad wipe feature on one of the game modes. 

Me and my party have recently encountered a bug where the game does not end when enough squads have been wiped, instead the game continues until yet another squad is wiped, resulting in one team winning without having a final round mode and with 3 teams being "out" during the same round.

In the attached screenshot, my team got third place, even though we were one of two squads who were not wiped when the mode was supposed to end, eventually we were also wiped, putting us in third place due to a lower amount of kills. 

Is this a new feature that me and my friends have missed, where the final round is sometimes removed without being advertised, or is this an unintended bug?
