Getting out of vehicle

Why is it you can get into a vehicle on one side and it makes you get it out on the other side so it is no determination on which side you get out of when you try to get out of the vehicle on one side so you don't get shot and it automatically pushes you on the other side and get shot why is that it is utterly stupid.
