PS5 Sprint bug

Hello,

I’ve been playing Battlefield 6 on PlayStation 5 since release day, and I’ve encountered the following bug:

At random intervals — roughly every 45 to 60 seconds — sprinting suddenly stops working. I have sprint mapped to L3. I can spam L3 like crazy, but it just won’t respond. After about 5 to 10 seconds, my character suddenly starts sprinting again automatically, without me pressing any button. If I fire a single shot, sprinting starts working again immediately. However, this has already gotten me killed multiple times because firing gives away my position.

Aside from these moments, sprinting works perfectly fine. But this issue can really ruin matches for me when I can’t sprint in crucial situations. In a 20-minute match, this can happen 20 to 30 times.

I’ve already reset my settings and tried a different controller — the issue still persists. My internet connection is stable, so it’s not that. My friends who also play on PlayStation don’t have this bug.

Maybe someone else is experiencing the same issue and can share their experience. Please look into this problem.

Thanks!

I have had the same issue. It appears to be a bug/defect and you just get stuck and can't sprint no matter which buttons you press. After 5-10 seconds, the character will start sprinting again automatically without input. Sometimes changing to Knife or firing gets it out of this state and you can sprint again. I have turned auto sprint off which appears to reduce or remove the issue:

If you are experiencing this, it's recommended to:

    1. Verify the gameplay setting "Double Tap Forward Sprint" is set to Sprint, not Auto Sprint.
    2. Adjust controller deadzone settings to reduce input glitches.

    Steps to Trigger the Bug:

    1. Start moving forward using the left analog stick.
    2. Press the L3 button to sprint normally.
    3. Stop moving after sprinting briefly.
    4. Start moving forward again without pressing the sprint button.
    5. Observe that the character may start sprinting automatically without input after a delay (around 5-10 seconds).
    6. The sprint controls become temporarily unresponsive for about 45-60 seconds causing sprint to stop working even if the button is pressed.
    7. A single shot fired usually cancels this auto sprint glitch and restores normal sprint control.
