recon laser designate targets that sustain damage

I can confirm this happens on PC too. Tried marking with dart, tracking or untracking, using binoculars to designate. It does not progress. Not only that but it does not even show 0/2000 but just /2000 
No number in front of it at all.

stuck at 0 . Ive designated atvs , jeeps , choppers, jets , tanks, lavs you name it . Ive even deignated infantry . Ive seen all of them go BOOM. ALso got assists while doing it so I know im doing it right. Still no progress. Ive uninstalled the game as well. Nothing. Super annoying

stuck at 1703 damage, so at some point a few days ago it was working but not anymore

I just completed this bit, another instance of the description not really doing its job.

What I observed is that you need to use the laser designator in remote mode, so I would place it, remote control it, get a lock, then exit. From there it gets even weirder, it only counts if the vehicle is destroyed while designated, and single vehicles do nothing, I got 650 points every second vehicle.

So basically get on a roof (for safety from ground stuff) during something with choppas/jets (I used firestorm on a portal server), then jump through the above hoops to take out 8 aircraft and it's done.

This didn’t work for me , I got it to move slightly up to 255, but I’ve no idea how or if I can again. I really like this game and it’s so much fun but these challenge bugs are ruining it for me. 

Hmm, that's strange. Once I got the first 650 points and realised how I got it to work, from then on it was easy and reliable.

So there was an enemy in the aircraft, and you still had it under lock when it was destroyed, and you had exited the designator?

HOW TO DO IT. 

I was able to get progress even using the tracker dart on a vehicle right before it explodes, but to consistently get it filled up is to set down your laser designator on top of the crane on Mirak Valley then go hide. and remotely use it to paint targets, once you paint a few tanks, jets, and a Heli, make sure you go out of the remote view where your just holding your gun. wait for a teammate to shoot and destroy your painted target, then go back into remote view and paint again, remember it will count every time if you paint a few and then back out of the soflam remote, its best to place it down instead of binoculars

Don't place down the designator, hold it and view from there, once you paint something keep viewing and all damage will track. It is bugged when set down.
